Kickstarter Update #2

Exciting stuff, people! We are now 7-days into our 30-day Kickstarter Campaign and we are 76% of the way to our goal of $5,000 with over $3,800 raised. There are still 23-days left to go and we are extremely excited to see what the next three weeks have in store for Borninfornia.

We are trying our best to get some Borninfornia women's apparel up as soon as possible but the sample process for the shirts is taking longer than expected. We have received one women's tank top so far that we like but are waiting on the remainder of the samples before we post the photos on the campaign. Most likely the women's apparel will be $20 on the Kickstarter campaign for both tank tops and/or shirts.

If you haven't had a chance to check out the Borninfornia Kickstarter Campaign, check it out here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/andrewneilsutton/borninfornia-high-quality-apparel-made-in-californ.

Thanks for all the support, it is much appreciated!!!

Best Regards,
Andrew & Daniel

This is how excited we are!

Kickstarter Update #1

After only 48-hours into the 30-day campaign, Borninfornia has already received over $3,400 from 46-backers around the United States. With an ultimate fundraising goal of $5,000, Bornininfornia is already over 65% funded while only being 1/15th through the entire duration of the Kickstarter campaign.

Danny and I were obviously hoping for some good support right off the bat but we were never expecting this! This outpouring of support means the world to us and we cannot begin to describe how grateful we are. Borninfornia is something we have been working on for over a year now and we are so excited for what the future has in store for Borninfornia! We have a little under 27-days left to reach that goal of $5,000 and we have a good feeling about it - thanks to you guys!

If you haven't had a chance to check out Borninfornia's Kickstarter Campaign yet, you can view it at: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/andrewneilsutton/borninfornia-high-quality-apparel-made-in-californ.

Borninfornia Kickstarter Campaign is now LIVE

Dear Borninfornia Community,

Andrew and I have been working very hard over the past several months putting together this campaign. Tonight, it has finally gone live. We are looking to raise $5,000 by September 19th. We hope you like what we have created as much as we do.

Ladies, please note that we will have women's apparel added in a few days. Please be patient!

Please take a look at our Kickstarter page, have a look around, watch the video. We hope you will make a pledge and get rewarded with one or more of our products! Equally important is to share with your friends. If we do not reach the $5,000 the campaign fails, no one gets anything - no money is taken, no money is received.

Thank you all so much for following our journey, we hope to have you continue to follow us for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Daniel Calvert & Andrew Sutton

Ladies, you will notice there are no current options for women's clothing. Something we are working on! We aim to add a "stretch goal" on Kickstarter with some women's options. Please send us any and all of your great suggestions!

Hope you all like them! And please let us know what you think, we love feedback!

Kickstart Campaign Submitted!

Good evening!

Andrew and I are very excited to announce that the Borninfornia Kickstarter campaign has officially been submitted. We have worked so hard over the past few months on this and are both extremely proud of the results. A huge thank you to all those involved and those who have been supporting us.

Whats next?

Now we await word from Kickstarter. When we set a date to go live on Kickstarter.com you will be the first one to know! The campaign is set to end at midnight on September 22. Fun fact: that is my 24th birthday, so please help make it an especially great day with a successfully funded project!

Sincerely,

Daniel & Andrew

Video Is Done!

The Borninfornia Promotional Video, shot and edited by our good friend from middle school and high school, Jeffery Adam, is done! He completed the whole process much quicker than anticipated and that means we are that much closer to submitting Borninfornia's Statewide Collection to Kickstarter.com.

I really, really, really, really wish I could show you the video right now but you will have to wait until the Borninfornia Statewide Collection Campaign launches on Kickstarer.com. Once that happens, we will provide links on this blog for you to visit the campaign to check out the video as well as post the video on YouTube and this blog.

It's crazy to think how close we are to launching Borninfornia with a Statewide Collection. A little over a year ago, Borninfornia was something Danny and I would casually talk about whenever we had time. And now we are on the verge of making Borninfornia a reality!!

As always, we will keep everybody updated with Borninfornia's progress via this blog. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to hit us up via commenting on this blog or by emailing us at borninfornia@gmail.com.

Best Wishes,
Andrew

Sneak Peek!! Behind the scenes at Borninfornia's Statewide Collection Photo Shoot

Hello everyone!

We wanted to post a few photos of a look into our photo shoot a few days ago. We spent a few hours taking "real photos." Most with just the shirts, no faces, but here are a few from us just having fun and being goofy. After all, we are happy people excited about creating an awesome brand with some beautiful shirts!!

We hope you enjoy,

Daniel & Andrew

I wish I had a dollar for every picture we have just like this

Keepin' it hard

Dan, who helped us for two days. THANK YOU DAN (and Jeff, taking the photo)

Yeah, that's Daniel's childhood ET doll. Why not?

UPDATE

Hey everybody, Daniel and I wanted to give you all an update about what has been going on recently in regards to anything and everything Borninfornia.

  • Received our first full round of samples (finally) for the Statewide Apparel Collection that includes tees, tank tops and pocket tees. It was so awesome to finally have them in our hands after working on the concept for several months now. Our goal was to design apparel that captured the true identity of California. We have to make some minor adjustments to the tees but the pocket tees and tank tops look amazing.
  • Had a professional product photoshoot for the Statewide Apparel Collection this past Friday, August 9th. Photos coming soon!
  • Created a Borninfornia Pinterest - http://pinterest.com/borninfornia/
  • Received our official Borninfornia Business Cards:
Full Biz Cards - meant to be cut in half to "gum stick" size
Full Biz Cards - meant to be cut in half to "gum stick" size
  • Recorded Borninfornia video clips this past weekend, August 9th and 10th. One of our closest friends from middle school and high school, Jeff Adam, came down from LA to help us with this aspect. He studied film at ASU and brought his knowledge, equipment, and partner in crime, Dan, down for the weekend to help us out. It was much more intense than we could have ever imagined but we are super excited to see what Jeff is going to come up with.
  • Started putting together the final touches of the Kickstarter Campaign that will be launching as soon as the photos and video portions are edited. The original Kickstarter launch date was pushed back a couple of weeks to Monday, August 19th and we are doing everything in our power to stay on track for that date.

Welp, I think that is all for now!

Cheers,
Andrew & Daniel

Borninfornia Baseball Tee Samples

Borninfornia Baseball Tee

BORNINFORNIA embroidered on the shirt

We tried something a little funky with this first batch of samples by having the embroidered logo located on the front right hip area instead of the standard left breast area. And by saying that we tried something a little funky I obviously mean that the embroidery shop screwed up.

Regardless, the quality of the shirt is amazing and the embroidered BORNINFORNIA looks great. The body of the shirt is a dark heathered gray with the sleeves a dark heathered navy blue. As soon as we receive the second batch of baseball tees with the embroidery in the right location we will post them ASAP!

And I apologize for the eye-straining design behind the shirt in the top photo. That is the carpet used in the office I work in.

Until next time,
Andrew

Why California?

Some of you may be wondering, "Why only California?" That is a very valid question and one that deserves a thoughtful response. We aren't choosing California because we think it's the greatest place on earth. We aren't choosing California because we think it needs the most help. We aren't choosing California for any specific reason other than the fact that it is our home-state and it is where we feel called to support.

We don't want Borninfornia to be a lone wolf  We want Borninfornia to be the spark that lights the fire and spreads state by state. We aren't proposing other states start their own versions of Borninfornia, such as Borninzona or Borninyork. But what we are hoping for is that other states launch their own movements in their own unique way to support, inspire, and empower future generations.

No single state is perfect nor is the United States perfect by any means. But if we all come together in an effort to make each state a better place and in turn the United States a better place as a whole, who really knows what is possible! There are 50 separate states but we are all part of one great nation and it is our dream and desire to operate Borninfornia in a way that creates a win-win situation for everyone involved.

"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." - Harriet Tubman

Supporting the Youth

We don’t want Borninfornia products to simply be made in California, keeping the money in California's economy, but we also want the profits stemming from products to go back to benefit the great state of California, particularly the future of California. A portion of the profits will be donated, split between the California Branch of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization and Scholarship America:

Big Brothers Big Sisters About Us: "Each time Big Brothers Big Sisters pairs a child with a role model, we start something incredible: a one-to-one relationship built on trust and friendship that can blossom into a future of unlimited potential. And thanks to the first-ever nationwide impact study of a mentoring organization, we have the facts to prove it."

Scholarship America's Mission & Vision: "Scholarship America's mission is to mobilize America, through scholarships and educational support, to make postsecondary success possible for all students. Our (Scholarship America) vision is to be the nationally recognized leader in providing private scholarships and other financial support, to make the completion of education beyond high school a reality for all."

We are firm believers that children and teens are our future and it is our desire to support a great cause that helps nurture future generations so that they can grow up to be fierce leaders of California and the United States as a whole.

Some of our greatest memories as a child were when somebody believed in and supported us. That by feeling empowering by their belief in us we got the inspiration needed to go after our dream(s). Regardless of where Daniel or I go in life, we both agree that it will always be a goal in our lives to take the time and resources necessary to inspire and empower future generations.

"It is up to us to live up to the legacy that was left for us, and to leave a legacy that is worthy of our children and of future generations." - Christine Gregoire

Andrew

First Attempts at a Logo

I l was cleaning out my room today as I prepare to move to my new spot and came across an old stash of my first attempts at designing a logo for Borninfornia. To say that the least, these first attempts look much, much different than the final Borninfornia logo. And to say that the final logo is much better than my first attempts would be an understatement.

As you can tell, the logo has come quite a ways!

Cheers,
Andrew

Mottos (Updated)

Everything Community: We at Borninfornia don't want to be another clothing brand that simply sells products to anonymous customers. We want Borninfornia to lead to long-lasting relationships that benefits the great state of California as much as it does our wardrobes. We don't want to create clothing for you, we want to create clothing with you. We will never have automated phone support. We will never use copy-and-paste email replies. We will never try to maximize profits in lieu of your satisfaction. We want to be Facebook friends with you. We want to follow you on Twitter. We want to check out your Instagram photos. We are not here to only provide a product but rather an experience. We want to create a brand that is as great as our state.
100% CaliforniaEverything about Borninfornia from the ground up is 100% California. The idea and concept was created by two friends who have spent their whole entire life residing in The Golden State. All the shirts come from an apparel company based out of Los Angeles where they mill, dye, cut, and sew all their products in house. The clothing labels also come from the City of Angels before they are hand-sewn onto the shirts by Borninfornia's own founders. All screen-printing is completed by a San Diego based company. Not only are Borninfornia products made in California but a portion of revenues coming from the sale of Borninfornia products will go back to support the great state of California. The Boys & Girls Club of California is the first organization we will be donating to but we plan on constantly increasing the number of California-based charitable causes that we will support.
Rep Your State, Support Your City: To launch, Borninfornia is offering statewide designs and apparel, which is just the tip of the iceberg. After a successful campaign and increased experience and knowledge, Borninfornia plans to offer city-specific products that feature the same high-quality designs and apparel that the Borninfornia brand will come to be known for. With these city-specific products available, you will not only be able to rep your hometown city and the Borninfornia brand but will also be supporting your city. A portion of all the revenues coming from city-specific products will go to support the community found in that respective city. For example, a portion of the profits coming from San Francisco shirts will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco.

Best Regards,
Andrew & Daniel
